"Africa is a continent with incredible potential. In recent years, 53 nations with close to 1 billion people are going through a remarkable development. Entrepreneurial initiatives from the private sector are key to the sustainable development of the African continent."
NABC (Netherlands African Business Council) is an active organization of Dutch entrepreneurs that do business in Africa and through their activities promote sustainable development of the African continent.
NABC in short:
- First network of companies in The Netherlands doing business in Africa, founded in 1946
- Non-subsidized organisation
- Platform for Dutch private sector in Africa
- Provider of business services to our members
- Promoter of trade and investment in Africa
Our missionIt is NABC's mission to be the main platform for the Dutch private sector active in Africa, as to strengthen economic relations between Africa and the Netherlands.
NABC provides effective support for member firms that are or want to be active in Africa. The often negative image of Africa causes numerous Dutch firms to neglect thorough investigation of the tremendous business opportunities in the continent. In collaboration with African partners the NABC delivers effective promotion and utilization of economic opportunities in Africa, by:
- Actively supporting firms with our dynamic network of Dutch and African business contacts;
- Cooperating intensively with Dutch and African authorities and Chambers of Commerce;
- Improving Africa's image as a trade and investment destination.
Our visionThe strengthening of economic relations between the Netherlands and Africa (our mission), will lead to an increase of trade volume between the Netherlands and Africa as well as an increase of investments by Dutch businesses in Africa.
Increase of trade and foreign investment will lead to higher overall investment levels in Africa, higher productivity, increased employment, and higher income levels. Moreover, through knowledge exchange associated with foreign direct investment, there is a positive effect on the development of the private sector in Africa, including the strengthening of corporate governance. Last but not least, the utilization of economic opportunities in Africa is beneficial for the Dutch economy and the international position of Dutch businesses.
HistoryThe Netherlands African Business Council is a non-profit organization, established by a few Dutch companies in 1946 to 'look after the interests of all Dutch companies which operate in or have commercial links with Africa'. Since then the institute has grown into an intermediary that promotes and stimulates Dutch companies to invest and establish or increase business activities in Africa. Over the years, the NABC has developed an extensive database.
The NABC board members have many years of experience in doing business with Africa. NABC shares these expertise with member companies both in the Netherlands and in Africa. Additionally, the NABC has become the central point for companies who want to become active in or with Africa. We support our members with regards to questions and problems that may arise when business is done with African companies and governments. The NABC also organizes events where Ambassadors and top managers of Dutch companies meet. These events are always well attended and are also an excellent opportunity to extend your business relations and network.
