ESS&SA is one of NABC’s newest members.

If you have to describe the company in only five words, what would these be?
Versatile, International, Can-do mentality, Disciplined, Flexible

What kind of services do you provide?
Maritime security, we mainly offer security on open water. As most of our men have an extensive background with the Marine Corps, by using the right procedure at forehand we are able to offer transport by sea the best security imaginable. ESS&SA is allowed to board every port worldwide to guarantee the safety within the high risk waters. Many shipping companies are forced to diverge from their initial course due to threats, highjacks, or any other form of piracy. Having to make a large detour or even not accepting assignments are results from this.

In areas such as the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden it is a well known fact that the modern piracy is often financed by terrorist organisations such as Al-Qaeda. This means that the piracy we know of today will only become worse. The weaponry, equipment and transport of the pirates are improving. Not only the fact that there have been many successful highjacks in the past, terrorist organizations also see this as an important source of money and are willing to finance this. Many marine ships from different companies patrol in high risk areas situated in the Gulf of Aden. ESS&SA will preserve contact with these ships while providing security within mentioned areas. Marine ships have the task to locate and detect within the high risk areas. Often they will also offer security to transports, this delays the transports. Also, marine ships are allowed only to locate and detect outside territorial waters. Unfortunately, the greater part of the highjacks occur within territorial waters. And the marine ships are therefore obliged to cooperate with countries such as Somalia to be able to detain and seize possible pirates. Due to poor cooperation of mutual Marine ships there are threats of high jacks and actual highjacks on a daily basis. The highjacks of larger transports become a head line in the news, but the shoot outs and threats do not.

ESS&SA offers security in high risk areas and close collaboration with several countries all around the high risk areas. We guarantee that with our level of experience and high trained crew, making large detours or not accepting assignments are no longer options you have to consider. We can offer security throughout the whole transport or only the parts in the high risk areas. This will also be lucrative regarding the insurance premium. During face-to-face appointments we can elaborate on subjects such as what we need from our client to be able to board and what the process of security eventually will be.

Our qualities and services:
  • We maintain 24 hour shifts within our crew, so we can guarantee 360 degrees of security, this due to the line up of our security officers
  • We draw up a risk analysis beforehand
  • The use of modern observation means
  • The use of protection of the body
  • The possibility to arm our security officers when necessary and the fact that all our security officers have a large track record of experiences in this line of work, helps us to avoid life threatening contact with pirates and enables us to secure a safe and harmless transport

By the end of 2009 we are planning to offer security to persons and objects at home and abroad

How would you describe the company?
We are a privately-owned security company situated in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
We are a young, sophisticated and progressive company lead by 2 directors.

Due to the increasing demand on security worldwide and our own experiences we find it a challenge to incorporate a security company which is specialized in high risk assignments.

Our employees have a minimum of four years military experience within elite units, such as the Dutch Marine Corps and they often gained this experience in regions such as Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition our employees obviously have been in training all over the world and have completed several trainings such as; mountain training, winter training and jungle training. Furthermore they have attended internal and external trainings, these trainings give an accurate and complete picture off our security officers and are also decisive for our selection.

Your line of business is in object, personal and maritime security. How does ESS&SA connect to Africa?
Due to many successful high jacks and threats towards ships surrounding Africa we have chosen to focus our services mainly on Africa. We ourselves have been to Africa several times to establish a possible collaboration in the near future with several companies. Also, we are informed extensively by companies which are engaged on the area ESS&SA is momentarily focussing itself.

It is always safer to coordinate travelling clients, with regard to security, when within that region the specific areas are known where it will be necessary to have security. This also applies to Object security. Therefore we collaborate closely with security agencies situated in Africa who operate on our level, to be able to provide our clients with the best security.

Our employees collaborate with other specialized companies in order to coordinate the whole security process as well as possible. Hereby the choice of reinforcement within high risk areas is one of many possibilities.

The main reason ESS&SA joined the NABC is for the network possibilities. With what type of companies do you want to come in contact through NABC?
ESS&SA wants to come in contact with every company which finds security a necessity. Now we occupy ourselves with maritime security, but at the end of this year we also want to focus ourselves on offering security to persons and objects. Through our services we want to announce a different kind of security officer to the companies who have had no or little confidence in security.

When and why did you decide to become a member of NABC?
We have decided to become a member of NABC right after we have decided to focus ourselves on Africa. By providing information on certain areas in Africa and connecting with the right companies we wanted to approach, is proved to be a step in the right direction for us.
