Tuesday 24 June
Tuesday the 24th of June the Netherlands ? African Business Council organized a Business Seminar titled: Financing capital goods export to Africa.

At half past two everybody had arrived in Gorinchem for a day of discussion about financing capital goods export to Africa. The day began with a short introduction of the Damen Shipyards Group made by Reinier van Herel. After brief overview of the company?s activities, which include almost every African country, except for the landlocked ones, he invited everybody for a tour of the shipyard itself. Now, everybody was able to enjoy the impressive range of products Damen has to offer, from the vicious interceptor boats on the one hand to the tugs and other enormous vessels, that were under construction, on the other. Then, it was once again time to focus. First off, it was Rik van Prooijen who continued the Damen presentation on the different ways to finance such capital goods. Next, Paul Menkveld presented the policy of the ministry of Foreign Affairs, including changes that had been made to the ORET financing rules, leaving a great deal to be discussed. Finally, Johan Schrijver, director of Atradius Dutch State Business, gave an expos? about ways to deal with non-marketable risks. A little later than planned, everybody could relax with a drink and a herring.
