Yet another interesting workshop has passed. No less than 33 people attended the third Discover the Lion workshop Africa & Food on the 12th of May 2009.

Three captivating presentations were on the menu:
Mr. ir. L.G.J. Verhoeven, FrieslandCampina
Mr. Verhoeven discussed and introduced us to the African projects for FrieslandCampina. The activities of the Nigerian office of Friesland WAMCO were fully explored.

Margriet van Torenburg, MSc, Unilever
Mrs. Van Toorenburg spoke about a very topical issue; the effects of the current financial crisis on consumer behavior.

Mrs. Ir. Gerdien Meijerink, LEI Wageningen University & Research Centre
The presentation by Mrs. Meijerink focused more on the network of businesses in Africa. Rather than lions should we focus on ants. Business in Africa is more done by local buyers and sellers at markets, which can look like anthills, rather than by large firms (lions).

Please find the workshop report and presentations here.
