Monday 25 May
On May 25th the African continent commemorated the creation of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1964.

Today, the organization is known as the African Union. For its 45th birthday a short seminar on development in African infrastructure was hosted by His Excellency the ambassador of Sudan at The Hague city hall. Representatives from Shell, Clingendael and the Institute for Social Studies addressed a gathering of special guests. The topics were energy, transport and the need for cooperation and mutual support between African nations. More unity in the Union could be a way forward for Africa.

Hereafter, a reception took place, organized by the African Ambassadors in The Hague. The guests were enthusiastically welcomed by a representative of The Hague and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Director General of International Cooperation. Moroccan food and African music turned the event into a festive celebration in honor of the African Union.
