Is de 21ste eeuw van Afrika? 9 van de 15 snelstgroeiende economieën in de wereld liggen momenteel in Afrika, technologischeontwikkelingen nemen in deze regio een vlucht, er is sprake van eensnelgroeiende middenklasse, het aantal hoger opgeleide, jonge mensen neemt toe,en in veel landen is de politieke situatie sterk verbeterd: Afrika is booming!

 

Met de internationale conferentie AfricaWorks! 21st Century Trends op 29-30 oktober 2012 willen hetAfrika-Studiecentrum en de Netherlands-African Business Council de hedendaagse ontwikkelingenin Afrika scherp op de kaart zetten. Deze unieke conferentie brengt hetbedrijfsleven, kennisinstellingen, overheden en NGO’s bijeen in Hotel TheaterFigi te Zeist. De conferentie wordt in samenwerking met het Ministerie vanBuitenlandse Zaken en Agentschap NL georganiseerd en staat in het teken van het65-jarig bestaan van het ASC en de NABC.

 

Inspirerende en vooraanstaande sprekersdiscussiëren over Afrika's positie in de wereld, de uitdagingen, kansen eninvesteringsmogelijkheden voor het Nederlandse en het Afrikaanse bedrijfslevenen welke trends we in de toekomst kunnen verwachten. Hare Koninklijke HoogheidPrinses Máxima der Nederlanden zal als eregast op maandag 29 oktober de tweedeplenaire sessie over voedselzekerheid bijwonen. Verder zal de Nigeriaanseoud-president Olusegun Obasanjo op 29 oktober worden geïnterviewd door Femkevan Zeijl en zal Ms. Rosa Whitaker, president en CEO van de Whitaker Group inWashington, gespecialiseerd in handel en investeringen in Afrika, op 30 oktobereen keynote speech houden.

 

Uniek in het programma zijn activiteiten als‘Meet the Embassy’, waarin ruimte is voor één op één gesprekken met medewerkersvan Nederlandse ambassades in Afrika, die u kunnen vertellen over de kansen,uitdagingen en het ondernemersklimaat in Afrika. Daarnaast vindt de lancering van het GAFSP fonds (Global Agricultureand Food Security Program) door de International Finance Corporation (IFC)plaats en kunt u op de tweede dag deelnemen aan workshops en seminars waaractuele thema’s en trends in Afrika worden uitgediept door experts uit hetbedrijfsleven, overheden en kennisinstellingen.
