NABC organises many events throughout the year. Our key events include the annual Ambassadors' Dinner and our ‘Africa Works!’ conference. Both are great occasions for Dutch companies to meet high-end contacts and to exchange experiences and knowledge. The much-anticipated Africa Strategy of VNO-NCW will be presented by its president Mr. Hans de Boer during NABC's Ambassadors Dinner on November 29th, starting at 14:00. This 10th edition of the Ambassadors Dinner will be held at the Rabobank Headquarters in Utrecht. With 28 African embassies in attendance last year, the networking dinner is an event that you simply cannot miss! Additionally, you will be able to watch inspiring presentations from our three finalists for the "Doing Business in Africa" Award. This award brings Dutch companies who have shown the most promising business endeavours across Africa into the spotlight. Registration is open now at euro 150,- per person. The NABC member fee is euro 95,-.
The next Africa Business Club, organised by INTL FC Stone and NABC, will be held on the 14th of November 2019 at 15:00 in Utrecht. This Africa Business Club will focus on the role of renewable energy in accelerating sustainable economic development in Africa. Mr. Arnoud van Putten, Managing Partner of the Off-Grid Factory will share insights about setting up mini-grids across Africa. Mr. Willem van der Merwe, a South-African national, is the founder and Managing Director of Amphibious Energy, specialised in off-grid solutions both on shore as off shore. The third panelist is Mr. Egbert Van den Berg, the founder of xs2solar. We also hear from INTL FCStone’s Niels van Duinen while the afternoon session, followed by a networking reception, is moderated by NABC’s Arne Doornebal.
The NABC and the Embassy of Cameroon invite you to the 'Inform and Inspire' event about Cameroon on Tuesday the 24th of September. This event will take place at the NABC offices: World Trade Center, The Hague. The NABC is organising a Trade Mission to Cameroon in November and will share the latest information about the mission during the event. The embassy of Cameroon will share information about doing business in Cameroon.
On Friday the 20th of September, the first South African Business Club meeting will be held in the NABC office in The Hague. The SA Business club aims to inspire, activate, and connect small to medium-sized business in the Netherlands with ties to South Africa. This club is not just a networking group, they aim to support companies in their endeavours by hosting interesting and useful workshops on a variety of business-related topics.
On the 18th of September, RVO in cooperation with the NABC and HortiFresh, will organise a half-day event on business opportunities in the agriculture, livestock, poultry and horticultural sectors in Côte d'Ivoire. During the event general information about doing business in Côte d'Ivoire will be presented, alongside the results of the recently conducted Côte d'Ivoire poultry sector study, information about the HortiFresh program and opportunities in the fruit and vegetable sector. In addition, participants will be informed of the upcoming trade mission to Côte d'Ivoire. Registration for the business seminar is free and is possible through RVO.nl.
The NABC and the Conseil d’Affaires Algéro-Néerlandais (CAAN) invite all companies interested in Algeria to join the Algeria Round Table on the 27th of August 2019. The Round Table starts at 14:30 and takes place at the NABC offices: World Trade Center, The Hague. Free for members. Non-members pay €25,-.
The next Africa Business Club, organised by NABC and INTL FCStone, will be held on June 13. Plan International Nederland director Monique van 't Hek and VSO Nederland Director Erik Ackerman will share their view of how Africa will be looking like in the next decades. How do they look at the current Dutch ‘aid to trade’ policy? And does the private sector share a similar view on the future of Africa with the Non-Governmental Organisations? Are NGOs too focused on doom scenarios? Together with you, we will try to find answers to these questions. Additionally, Partos, the branch organization for NGOs, will present their recent ‘Practical guide to Inclusive Business Partnerships.’ The debate is followed by a networking reception where the business community and the NGO community can link up.

The EU-Ethiopia Business Forum 2019 will be taking place on Tuesday, May 14th and 15th in Brussels. This business forum will be dealing with all the practical information about doing business in Ethiopia. Many high level officials from the Ethiopian Investment Commission and other government officials will be attending. The vice-president of the European Commission and Commissioner for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness, Mr. Jyrki Katainen, will be attending. This day-long programme focuses on four key sectors in Ethiopia, namely: agro-processing, textile, apparel and leather, pharmaceutical and medical, and ICT. The future of Africa is urban. Therefore, the theme of Africa Works! 2019 is Future African Cities with an aim to connect African urbanization challenges to business opportunities for the European private sector. The first day of Africa Works! 2019 will be dedicated to 'Building Future African Cities' while day two is dedicated to 'Powering African Cities'.

The seminar seeks to inform attendees on the general business climate and inspire companies to explore the business opportunities in Namibia.
During the seminar a team of Namibian experts will share trade and investment opportunities and past experiences. On Friday 12 October 2018 (2pm - 4pm), NABC will organize a B2B matchmaking event between 11 Dutch poultry companies and their local counterparts at the Tanzanian Poultry Show in Dar es Salaam.
The matchmaking event is part of a Dutch Poultry Trade Mission to Tanzania from 11 to 16 October 2018. Horticultural Business Opportunities in Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire
During second round of country/sector sessions, a parallel horticulture sector session will take place. This session will present the HortiFresh program and the business opportunities in the fruit and vegetable sector in Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire. The 4- year HortiFresh program (2018-2021) is the successor of the GhanaVeg program funded by the Dutch Embassy in Accra. The aim of the programme is “A sustainable and internationally competitive vegetable and fruit sector that contributes to inclusive economic growth, food and nutrition security”. This session aims to introduce Dutch companies from the horticulture sector, to the HortiFresh program activities (upcoming trade missions), instruments and business opportunities in the fruit and vegetable sector in the 2 countries.

Africa is on the rise and new ports are essential to unlock production and trade opportunities and enable future growth. However, an integrated interdisciplinary approach to sustainable port development, which embraces the four perspectives of engineering, ecology, economy and governance was lacking. This multi-disciplinary project aims to address this gap.

After a very successful edition last year, the Francophone Africa Business Forum (FAB Forum) will be back with another exciting programme on June 19th! Do you want to learn more about Agribusiness opportunities in Tunisia? Join NABC and Tunisia’s Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) on Friday 23rd of February in The Hague (Prinses Magrietplantsoen 100, 2595M, Utrecht Room). Tunisia is set to become the next destination for Dutch horticulture companies wishing to expand. A full Business Opportunity Report can be read here. On March 6th, the Netherlands-African Business Council (NABC) and The Postharvest Network will organise a workshop (in the Netherlands) focused on the issue of post-harvest losses occurring in the agro-logistics value chain in and between Nigeria and Benin. This workshop has been commissioned by RVO as a follow-up to an extensive study carried out by Buck Consultants International in 2015 into agro-logistics in the two countries. It will take place at the New World Campus, The Hague, from 13:00 to 17:00.
The goal is to find out how Dutch technology, expertise, and solutions can be implemented through projects focused on capacity building, cold chain investments, small-scale pilot projects for added value, and investment opportunities. On Thursday the 9th of February a Niger Business Seminar will be held in the NH Hotel, WTC The Hague. The Business Seminar will focus on the major economic sectors of the country (such as agribusiness, water, energy and logistics) and is targeting businesses, NGOs and knowledge institutes.

The annual African Ambassadors Dinner will be hosted on Thursday 15 December at the Rabobank headquarters in Utrecht. XS2Justice Network International has developed the first ever sustainable model for legal empowerment.
They have a proven practice in The Netherlands where 90% of all cases are being solved out of court for a limited fixed fee. The business model has been adjusted to be able to protect employees, small entrepreneurs and others in developing countries. A small scale pilot in Kenya has been prepared to prove and tweak the business model after which a nationwide roll-out in Kenya will follow. With a profitable business in Kenya, the company is able to do a roll-out to 10 countries before 2020 and spread the service to as many countries as possible after that. The model will be pitched at the event to raise the necessary funding for the pilot and to stimulate investors and funders to consider funding other start-ups in the justice sector that could contribute to improving access to justice.

Before the summer holidays will start all members are invited to join our annual summer event: the "European-African Business Event". On Tuesday 26 May NABC will organize a Doing Business in Cameroon seminar and a B2B Matchmaking which will take place at the KIT (Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen) in Amsterdam. This forum enables you to meet with your potential business counterparts from this West Central African country and gain more knowledge about your business opportunities in Cameroon.
In cooperation with Agriculture Study Tours, NABC will organise an incoming trade mission from Kenya. The Incoming Trade Mission will take place from 19-21 May and will consist of several company visits and orientation meetings between the Kenyan and Dutch private sector, focusing on Agribusiness and Logistics.

Once again NABC is cooperating with the 1st German-Netherlands Corps to organise an exercise and event to build effective interaction between civil and military organisations. This is the so-called "Common Effort". On the 23th of April, NABC and Steward Redqueen will organise the Africa Business Club. The event will take place at the KIT (Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen) in Amsterdam and all members are invited to join this networking and knowledge event.
The theme of the event is ‘Managing and measuring impact; the private sector in Africa’. In recent years we have seen a positive trend emerge of companies increasingly measuring their societal impact in Africa. On the one hand this helps companies obtain, maintain and strengthening their license to operate on the other hand these impact assessments help identify new business opportunities.
From 16-21 April, NABC will host an incoming delegation of Eastern and Southern African Dairy Association in Nairobi, Kenya. The delegation will consist of 39 members of National Dairy Associations from Tanzania, Zambia, DRC, Kenya and Uganda.

NABC and FME will be welcoming an incoming multi-sectoral delegation from Ghana between the 8 and 13 of February. We will be hosting 23 GCCI members from various sectors looking to purchase products, materials, equipment and who want to gain sector knowledge. Our Annual BBQ Day has proved to be an enormous success due to the response from our members and their business contacts. This day provides a perfect setting to enjoy our hospitality of our members and to entertain clients. At the New Year’s Reception, SANEC and NABC welcome more than 300 companies, delegates from ministries and Dutch ambassadors. We looked back on 2013 as a year full of productive networking events, successful matchmaking and rewarding trade missions. The New Year’s Reception proved to be a fruitful event allowing you to meet (new) business partners, exchange ideas, share knowledge and toast to success. Furthermore, we looked forward to an eventful 2014 in which we focused on further strengthening the economic ties between the Netherlands and Africa.

This event has become a unique NABC tradition. Once a year NABC invites all African Ambassadors accredited to the Benelux, and all NABC's members and associates to the ultimate networking event. Kasteel de Wittenburg is the location of this year’s Ambassador’s Dinner which take place at Thursday December 12. The NABC annual African Ambassadors Dinner provides the ideal networking platform for both African Ambassadors and the Dutch private sector companies to share their experiences, explore new connections and enhance existing business relations. The program includes a set of diverse and exciting networking sessions, culminating in an elegant dinner ending with music & drinks.
NABC and Clifford Chance offer you an interesting in-depth master class on the fiscal and practical implications of investment treaties in Africa. Here Clifford Chance will start presenting the judicial and fiscal aspects in terms of African investment. We will get through tax treaties, investment protection treaties, corruption and so on.
Afterwards we focus merely on the practical implication of the treaties and African regulations. Several companies and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DAF) will take the floor presenting their experiences when it comes to investment treaties in Africa.
After this plenary session, the audience will be invited to work on a case-study based on real case scenario's. During the panel discussion there is room for debating the outcomes of the case-study and this will eventually intends to provide a closer insight of the investment and tax reality in Africa.
The Africa Business Clubs at FMO start with a short presentation by Maudy Keulemans, General Manager NABC. Afterwards, FMO and Robeco take the floor speaking about financial instruments for Dutch companies to invest in Africa and about investing on the relatively new African stock market.
After that, it is time to share your own experiences around the map of Africa during drinks. These meetings are an excellent way to maintain and expand your network in a pleasant way.
Philips has implemented a new strategy for Africa and has some fascinating innovative healthcare and LED lighting projects for Africa. NABC has joined hands with Philips for this month’s Africa Business Club on which Philips will demonstrate its strategy and diverse demo-tours for NABC members and ambassadors on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. East-Africa holds great promise for natural gas production. In little time, interest in the region has grown as seismic data, infrastructure and the political environment are improving. Organized in cooperation with Navingo, this session at the Offshore Energy 13 Conference in the RAI Amsterdam discusses East-Africa’s potential, business opportunities as well as lessons learned by first movers.
The ABC of September is being organized at the best place to discuss port developments and opportunities: the Port of Rotterdam at STC BV. NABC welcomes two high-profile speakers. First, Martin Bloem will speak about the development of the Dutch Maritime Cluster including its economic impacts. Secondly, Sander Wubbolts of the STC takes the floor presenting whether or not this has already impact on the African continent and if not so, what will this impact be in the next years.
NABC will open its doors for the Africa Business Club. Last July, NABC moved to a new office and we are honored to show you around. Of course, key-note speakers and drinks will be a part of this ABC.
