Together with the Royal Netherlands Navy and supported by the Netherlands Embassy, NABC organized the Lagos Business Forum in the Port of Lagos on 15 October. This successful Forum was attended by 27 Dutch companies and 35 Nigerian companies. The following the Embassy Reception was also held at the deck of the HNLMS Rotterdam on 16 October.

The objectives were: A strong positioning of the Dutch knowledge and expertise in the maritime and offshore sector. Further, fostering and expanding business relations between the Dutch and Nigerian companies, and lastly sharing the importance of public-private collaboration concerning safety, stability including stimulating trade and investments in the West-African region.

The Forum was a success because of the high-level guests, expanded business network and resulting follow-ups. Attending speakers regarding public-private collaboration were Rear Admiral Ben Bekkering (Director Industry and Trade Support on behalf of the Ministry of Defense), Eng David Omonibeke (Executive Director Marine & Operations of the Nigerian Port Authority), Mr Nwapa (Executive Director Nigerian Local Content and Monitoring Board) and the Netherlands Embassy in Abuja. Many companies expressed their contentment due to the specific focus on the maritime and offshore sector which resulted in a strong composition of the private sector. All in all, the most important thing: this Forum led to several promising follow-ups.

Hein Heyster, Dockwise: ‘Many thanks again for the excellent organization’.
